The 1997/98 home shirt was Kelme’s final Madrid home design, combining the traditional white base with purple detailing and Teka sponsorship. A dedicated Champions League configuration of the design was also used in Europe.

The squad featured Raúl, Fernando Redondo, Roberto Carlos, Clarence Seedorf, Fernando Hierro, Davor Šuker and Predrag Mijatović. Madrid beat Juventus 1–0 in Amsterdam, Mijatović scoring the winner as the club lifted its seventh European Cup and first for 32 years.
