The 1994–96 third shirt used alternating blue and white vertical stripes, a navy polo collar and subtle graphic detailing within the fabric. Umbro manufactured the shirt and Sharp remained the sponsor.

The design is forever linked with Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, David Beckham and Andy Cole. It became especially famous in April 1996 when United changed into it at half-time against Southampton after abandoning the grey away shirt.
