Manchester City 97/98 Kids Home

Iconic Kappa sky-blue home shirt featuring navy sleeve detailing, claret accents, Brother sponsor and embroidered Manchester City crest.

This shirt captures Manchester City during the turbulent 1997/98 season, when the club began a difficult chapter that would ultimately lead to one of the greatest comebacks in English football.

The design featured City’s traditional sky-blue base, with distinctive navy Kappa tape running down the shoulders and sleeves, finished with subtle claret detailing around the collar and cuffs. The Brother sponsor, Kappa logo and embroidered City crest completed one of the most recognisable late-90s City designs.

The 1997/98 squad included Georgi Kinkladze, Uwe Rösler, Paul Dickov, Kevin Horlock, Kit Symons and Peter Beardsley. Kinkladze remained the creative heartbeat of the side, while Rösler and Dickov provided the goals.

Sadly, it was a season of real struggle. City finished 22nd in Division One and were relegated to the third tier, despite beginning the campaign with hopes of promotion. It remains one of the lowest points in the club’s history — making the extraordinary revival that followed even more remarkable.

A symbol of Kinkladze’s genius, Maine Road in the late 90s and the beginning of City’s incredible journey back to the top — pure old-school City nostalgia for any collector.
