Manchester City 07/08 Away
The Le Coq Sportif Manchester City F.C. 2007–08 away shirt is a brilliant late-2000s classic and one of the more distinctive Manchester City away designs.
The shirt featured a deep purple base with white vertical pinstripes, finished with white detailing around the collar, sleeves and sides. The Le Coq Sportif branding and Thomas Cook sponsor completed the design, creating a striking kit that really stood out from City’s traditional sky blue.
It was worn during Sven-Göran Eriksson’s first season in charge, with a City squad featuring Micah Richards, Stephen Ireland, Dietmar Hamann, Martin Petrov and Daniel Sturridge. City enjoyed a strong start to the campaign and finished ninth in the Premier League.
The purple and white pinstripes have since become something of a cult favourite among City fans, particularly for collectors looking back at the period immediately before the club’s transformation under new ownership.
Today, the Manchester City 2007–08 Le Coq Sportif Thomas Cook away shirt is a standout retro piece. The unusual purple colourway, pinstripes and classic Thomas Cook sponsorship make it instantly recognisable as a product of its era.
More than just a shirt, it represents the Sven era, the final days before Manchester City’s transformation, and one of the club’s most memorable modern away designs.
