The 2005/06 home design retained the red-and-white Reebok look and Carlsberg sponsor from the previous campaign. As reigning European champions, Liverpool also wore the UEFA Champions League winners badge during the season.

Rafael Benítez’s side featured Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Xabi Alonso, Luis García, Peter Crouch and Pepe Reina. Liverpool won the FA Cup after a dramatic 3–3 final against West Ham, with Gerrard scoring twice before the Reds prevailed on penalties.
