The 1997/98 Inter third shirt is one of the most distinctive designs of the Ronaldo era. Umbro used a dark grey-blue base with black horizontal stripes, light-blue highlights and contrasting yellow branding. The design was reserved for Inter’s UEFA Cup campaign.

That European run ended with Ronaldo, Javier Zanetti, Iván Zamorano, Diego Simeone and their teammates facing Lazio in Paris. Zamorano opened the scoring, Zanetti made it two and Ronaldo rounded the goalkeeper for the final goal in a 3–0 victory.
