The 1999/00 Fiorentina home shirt is one of those late-90s Serie A designs that immediately transports you back to an era when Italian football was packed with genuine superstars. Produced by Fila, it combines Fiorentina’s unmistakable deep purple with crisp white detailing in a wonderfully clean but unmistakably 90s design.

The shirt features a rich viola purple body, with white sleeves, a white-trimmed polo collar and white side panels. The shoulders and sleeves carry Fila’s distinctive geometric/circular detailing, while the Toyota sponsor sits proudly across the chest in white. The result is a shirt that feels both elegant and unmistakably of its time.

And then there was the team wearing it. Gabriel Batistuta was still the undisputed king of Florence, scoring 29 goalsduring the campaign, while Rui Costa, Abel Balbo, Enrico Chiesa and Francesco Toldo added plenty of quality to Giovanni Trapattoni’s side.

Fiorentina finished 7th in Serie A, but their European campaign gave this shirt genuine cult status. They reached the second group stage of the Champions League, famously defeating both Arsenal and Manchester United along the way before eventually finishing third in their group behind United and Valencia.
