Fiorentina 92/93 Kids Away

Iconic Lotto white Fiorentina away shirt featuring the bold purple geometric pattern and classic 7UP sponsor.

The 1992/93 Fiorentina away shirt is one of the most infamous designs in Italian football history. Produced by Lotto, it began life as a striking white away shirt before its unusual purple pattern turned it into a genuine collector’s piece — and ultimately one of football’s most controversial kits.

The shirt features a clean white base, with a large purple geometric graphic running across the upper chest, shoulders and sleeves. The intricate shapes were intended by Lotto to represent lozenges, but the way they joined together created an unintended resemblance to swastikas. The design was withdrawn after only a handful of appearances, with Fiorentina subsequently using a much plainer white replacement. 7UP provides the classic early-90s sponsor, while the Lotto branding and traditional Fiorentina crest complete the look.

What makes the shirt even more remarkable is the team that wore it. Gabriel Batistuta, Brian Laudrup and Stefan Effenberg were among the stars of a Fiorentina squad packed with talent, making the eventual outcome of the season all the more dramatic.

Despite that quality, 1992/93 became a disastrous campaign. Fiorentina were relegated to Serie B for the first time in 54 years, finishing just one point behind safety. Batistuta remained a major attacking threat, but four different coaches were used during the season as the club battled unsuccessfully to avoid relegation.

A true Fiorentina cult classic — white Lotto, purple geometry, 7UP, Batistuta and one of the strangest stories in football kit history, all wrapped up in one unforgettable Serie A shirt.
